20 Million Muslims March Against ISIS

Contrary to popular belief, most Muslims aren’t Isis supporters--and to prove this, they’ve taken part in a march against the group. The walk, which most people completed on foot, lead them close to Isis controlled territories.

The march route led to the ancient city of Karbala, 62 miles south west of Baghdad, over the course of Sunday and Monday, as reported by The Independent.

This march represents the biggest celebration of one of the most famous Muslim martyrs of all time, Imam Hussein, who refused to pledge allegiance to Yazid, the second Caliph of the Umayyad Caliphate, because he considered the rule of the Umayyads unjust.

In the same way, marchers have refused to pledge allegiance to the Islamic State’s self-proclaimed caliphate and this march is the way they’ve chosen to manifest their opposition.
