Pete Souza, President Obama’s photographer, has taken over 2 million photographs during Obama’s eight years in office. He has captured:

‘There’s a certain daily grind to my job,’ Souza told NPR. ‘But I’d say, once, twice, three, four , 10 times a week, you realize that you are an eyewitness to history. And I alway try to keep that forefront in my mind.’

January 20, 2009: The President and his wife, Michelle Obama, were on a freight elevator to one of the Inaugural Balls. It was chilly so he removed his tuxedo jacket and put it over Michelle’s shoulders. It was a nice, intimate moment so the Secret Service agents tried not to look.
