Major Recall Underway After Company Admits To Potential Deadly Poisoning In Kids Products

A variety of children’s medicine has been recalled by the manufacturer due to unsafe levels of a potentially dangerous ingredient. Three homeopathic remedies were recalled by Raritan Pharmaceuticals through CVS pharmacy.

It is reported that there was an incorrect amount of a certain ingredient used in the batches that were recalled. These children's medicines include CVS brand infant teething tablets, CVS homeopathic ear relief liquid, and Kids relief brand homeopathic ear relief oral liquid.

The recall was initiated when high amounts of the ingredient belladonna were found in these homeopathic remedies. Belladonna has been used in homeopathic and pharmaceuticals for thousands of years.

However, in large amounts it is incredibly toxic and is referred to as ‘Deadly Nightshade.’ The foliage and berries are extremely toxic, and contain tropane alkaloids. These toxic properties can cause hallucinations, and it's one of the most toxic plants found in the Eastern Hemisphere. Consuming one or two belladonna berries will usually have a mild effect of perception in adults.
