When a hero passes away, it is important that they are given a proper burial and recognized for all of the amazing things he or she has accomplished while they served. The same treatment should be given to dogs of the military! Everyone knows that dogs are:
Dogs are truly a human’s best friend and when it comes to being brave, strong, and saving lives- they’re right there beside us.
Nero was a military K-9 German Sheppard who passed away in late October 2016. Having been adopted by a loving family, Nero’s years of retirement were filled with love and happiness.
Nero served in Afghanistan as a Contract Working Dog (CWD) and when he returned home he was the first dog to be taken in by an organization that rescues and re-homes the retired pups.
When Nero first came to the US, he had a close call on the plane causing him to arrive close to death. An air pressure problem in the cabin caused Nero to have to be rushed to vet.
Having served as a CWD for seven years, Nero was already considered and elder dog and had a few health problems, but his adopted mother Judie gave him all the love he deserved, even throwing him birthday parties each year.
Nero was treated for cancer of the feet in 2014, but prevailed as his loving family was on his side.
