Her name is Storie, and Chris and Mariesa quickly learned that the pit bull was pregnant. Mariesa explains that they took Storie from the kennel, to get checked out by a vet. The X-ray showed that Storie was expecting 12 puppies. Since Storie was very close to giving birth, the couple decided to foster the pregnant dog since it's not as healthy for puppies to be delivered in kennels.

According to Chris, ‘Dogs having puppies at shelters, it’s not the best thing for them. It’s stressful for her, stressful for the puppies.’

The couple decided they were going to foster Storie and give her a safe, comfortable place at their home where she could deliver and raise the puppies stress free. They set up her own bed, and waited for her to go into labor. They figured that she would have the puppies a few days later, but instead she went into labor the same night she was rescued from the shelter.
