Before-And-After Photos Show What Quitting Alcohol Does To Your Body
Written by Beatriz Sanchez
Here’s a universal fact: drinking takes a toll on your body, and we aren’t just talking hangovers. Though good in very limited amounts, alcohol can increase your risk of developing different types of cancer, including:
- Mouth cancer
- Esophagus cancer
- Throat cancer
- Liver cancer

So it’s no wonder this woman lost a crazy amount of weight after she stopped drinking. She must be feeling fabulous!
6 Months Sober: This man posted these photos on Reddit and titled them ‘The face of acute pancreatitis’ and ‘The face of recovery.’ Since being admitted to the ER, he quit drinking and took up cycling. The difference in his face and attitude is just incredible.
7 Months Sober: Heavy drinking causes blood cells to become larger and that makes you more tired, since they are unable to transport oxygen efficiently around the body. There’s a reason this guy looks a lot healthier and better rested in the after photo than in the first one.
8 Months Sober: This is Reddit user brittsuzanne, who revealed that it had been eight and a half months since she checked into rehab and she is now 35lbs lighter. ‘I feel like myself again,’ she wrote.
